RDN-SFDC Integration User Guide

Step-by-step instructions for integrating Salesforce with the RDN platform using metadata-driven, asynchronous integration.

Purpose & Overview

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for integrating Salesforce (SFDC) with the RDN platform using a metadata-driven, asynchronous integration package.

What This Guide Covers

  • Installation & configuration steps - Get the package set up in your Salesforce org
  • Metadata setup and field mappings - Configure how data flows between systems
  • Operational workflows and troubleshooting - Day-to-day operations and issue resolution
  • Security, compliance, and performance considerations - Best practices and limits

Intended Audience

This documentation is designed for:

  • Salesforce Administrators
  • RDN Integration team members
  • Developers supporting Salesforce customizations

Prerequisites

Before starting the integration, ensure you have the following in place:

RequirementDetails
Salesforce AccessSystem Administrator profile or equivalent permissions
EnvironmentSalesforce Sandbox for testing, Production for rollout
Required PackageRDN Managed Package (install link provided)
API CredentialsValid RDN Auth Token for API authentication
Remote SitesMust allow the RDN API base URL in Salesforce security settings
Version CompatibilitySalesforce Lightning Experience recommended
Connected AppEnsure API is enabled on your Connected App

Quick Start Path

  1. → Install the Package - Get the RDN package into your Salesforce org
  2. → Configure Metadata - Set up Custom Metadata Types for your integration
  3. → Add Triggers - Implement triggers on Lead/Contact objects
  4. → Allow Remote Sites - Configure Salesforce to allow API calls
  5. → Test Your Setup - Run validation tests and verify data flows
  6. → Go Live - Deploy to production with monitoring

Architecture Overview

The integration uses these key components:

  • Salesforce Triggers - Monitor Lead/Contact records for changes
  • Queueable Jobs - Process integrations asynchronously
  • RDN API Services - External APIs for data enrichment
  • Metadata Configuration - Flexible, no-code configuration

Data Flow

  1. User inserts or updates a Lead or Contact record
  2. Trigger detects the change and enqueues a Queueable Job
  3. Job dynamically builds payload from metadata configuration
  4. RDN APIs are called with the payload
  5. API response is mapped back to Salesforce fields
  6. Records are updated asynchronously with processed data
