Getting Started with RDN
Welcome to RightData Normalizer (RDN) — RightWave's engine for cleansing, validating, transforming, and routing your marketing and sales data into platforms like Marketo, Salesforce, and HubSpot.
This page gets you from zero to your first cleaned import in about 10 minutes. If you've never used RDN before, start here.
You don't need to read every guide. Follow the three steps below in order — each links to the deeper reference when you need it.
What RDN does
At its core, RDN takes messy, inconsistent data — spreadsheets of leads, exported CRM records, event lists — and turns it into clean, standardized, validated records your systems can trust. It catches junk, fixes formatting, enriches fields, matches leads to accounts, and pushes the results wherever they need to go.
You interact with RDN through four building blocks:
| Concept | What it is |
|---|---|
| Service | A single transformation — validate an email, standardize a job title, score a lead, match to an account. |
| Template | A reusable recipe that bundles field mappings, validations, services, and export settings so you never rebuild setup twice. |
| Project | One execution of a template against an uploaded file. This is where an actual import runs. |
| Processing Unit (PU) | The unit RDN uses to meter processing. Good news: the Quick Test (5 records) consumes no PUs, so you can validate your setup for free before a full run. |
Once you understand Template → Project, the rest of RDN clicks into place.
Your first 10 minutes
Step 1 — Understand the flow (2 min)
Every import follows the same shape: build a Template once, then run Projects against it whenever you have new data. Validations catch bad records, Services clean and enrich the good ones, and Export configuration decides where they land.
Step 2 — Run your first Lead Import (6 min)
This is the flagship RDN workflow and the best place to start.
- Create a Lead Import Template and give it a name.
- Initialize fields by uploading a sample CSV/XLS — RDN auto-detects your columns.
- Set field properties and validations (mandatory fields, email format, picklists).
- Run a Quick Test on 5 records — free, and it confirms your logic works.
- Choose Clean-Only (get a cleaned file back) or Clean & Export (push to Marketo).
- Create a Project, upload your file, and run it.

Step 3 — Add cleansing & transformation services (2 min)
Once a basic import works, layer in Services to standardize and enrich: validate emails and domains, normalize company names, categorize job titles into Role and Seniority, or match leads to existing accounts.
