Error Handling & Monitoring
Understand error codes and how the integration handles failures.
Exception Notifications
When errors occur during integration, alert emails are automatically sent to:
- RightWave (RW) integration team
- RDN Support team
- Email addresses configured in your RDN API Provider metadata
This ensures rapid response to critical issues.
Conditions That Trigger Alerts
Notifications are sent when:
- ❌ API is inactive or disabled
- ❌ Processing Unit (PU) limits are exceeded
- ❌ Invalid or expired authentication token
- ❌ Incorrect or missing metadata configuration
- ❌ Unexpected failure in process execution
- ❌ API response indicates an error
Error Codes Reference

Error Code Prefix Guide
- Q* = Queueable job errors
- QB* = Batch job errors
- DB* = Data flow errors
- T* = Trigger-related errors
Monitoring Logs
RDN Platform Logs
- Log in to RDN platform
- Navigate to Logs section
- Filter by timestamp and integration name
- Review error messages and stack traces
Salesforce Debug Logs
Enable detailed Salesforce logging:
- Go to Setup → Developer Console
- Click Debug → Change Log Levels
- Set Apex Code to
FINE - Perform the action you're debugging
- View generated logs for details
Debug logs contain detailed information about API calls, field mappings, and processing steps.
Common Error Scenarios
Scenario 1: Invalid Token Error
Error Code: Q001 (depends on when detected)
What Happened: Your RDN Auth Token is invalid or expired
Fix:
- Go to your RDN API Provider metadata record
- Verify the
Auth_Token__cvalue is correct - Request a new token from RightWave if needed
- Update the metadata and save
- Re-test with a sample record
Scenario 2: API Endpoint Not Found
Error Code: Q002
What Happened: The endpoint path is incorrect
Fix:
- Check RDN API documentation for correct endpoint
- Verify endpoint path in RDN API Configuration (e.g.,
/addScore) - Ensure it matches RDN API specification exactly
- Test with RDN API directly using Postman
- Update configuration and retry
Scenario 3: Processing Unit Limits Exceeded
Error Code: Q001
What Happened: You've exceeded RDN API rate limits
Fix:
- Check your current usage in RDN dashboard
- Wait for quota reset (typically hourly)
- Reduce frequency of batch operations
- Contact RDN support to increase limits
- Retry operations after reset
Scenario 4: Field Mapping Errors
Error Code: Q006
What Happened: A configured field doesn't exist or can't be accessed
Fix:
- Review RDN API Input Field records
- Verify Salesforce field names are correct (API names, not labels)
- Confirm fields are not marked read-only
- Check field-level security permissions
- Check for field validation rules blocking updates
Retry Behavior
Failed API calls follow Salesforce's retry mechanism:
- Temporary failures (429, 5xx errors) - Automatically retried
- Retry backoff - Increases exponentially after each attempt
- Max retries - After 3 retries, job is marked for manual intervention
- Manual intervention - Check RDN logs for root cause
Retry Example
Attempt 1: Failed → Wait 5 seconds
Attempt 2: Failed → Wait 10 seconds
Attempt 3: Failed → Wait 20 seconds
Final Status: Manual Review Required
How to Check Error Status
In RDN Platform
- Log in to RDN
- Go to Integration Status
- Filter by your Salesforce org
- View error details and timestamps
In Salesforce
- Go to Setup → Monitoring → Apex Debug Logs
- Filter by recent logs
- Search for "error" or "exception"
- View log details for each error
Monitoring Dashboard
Recommended metrics to monitor:
- Success Rate: % of records processed successfully
- Error Rate: % of records with errors
- Processing Time: Average time per record
- API Latency: Average RDN API response time
- Failed Records: Count of records needing manual review
Alert Setup
Email Alerts
Configure email recipients in RDN API Provider:
- Go to RDN API Provider metadata record
- Update Get Notified field with email(s)
- Use comma-separated format for multiple recipients
- Save and verify configuration
Webhook Notifications (Advanced)
If your org supports webhooks, RDN can send error notifications to:
- Slack channels
- Microsoft Teams
- Custom webhook endpoints
Contact RDN support to set up webhook notifications.
